The Posture of Hearing, 2025
Steel
103cm x 35cm x 18cm

Drawing from historical depictions of hearing, the sculpture focuses on the act of cupping one’s hands behind the ears to hear better. This posture is conveyed in an abstract steel structure which confines the body into a kneeling position, evoking ideas of divinity, sexuality and penitence. Born from the frustration of feeling unheard, the piece embodies the longing to create a space for true hearing. Yet, it remains vacant: an empty space waiting to be occupied. This absence becomes a testament to the fact that no definitive way exists to be fully heard and understood.
